A recent study has revealed that men are significantly more likely than women to die from "broken heart syndrome," a serious cardiac condition triggered by extreme emotional or physical stress. Known medically as Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, the condition mimics the symptoms of a heart attack — including chest pain and shortness of breath — but is caused by a sudden surge of stress hormones rather than blocked arteries.
