Chelsea Ramp Up Summer Transfer Plans: Fofana, Gittens, Maignan, Woltemade and More
Chelsea have launched an aggressive summer transfer strategy, targeting a host of players across positions—including left-winger Malik Fofana, winger Jamie Gittens, goalkeeper Mike Maignan, and striker Nick Woltemade.
Malik Fofana (Lyon, Age 20):
Chelsea are in formal talks and have approached Lyon over the Belgian left-winger, who recorded 16 goal involvements last season. Interest from Nottingham Forest and others suggests Lyon may leverage competition to seek around €50 million.
Jamie Gittens (Borussia Dortmund, 20):
Chelsea have had two bids—one reportedly £42 million—rejected and are now expected to offer up to €50–60 million. Gittens has agreed personal terms and remains ‘Chelsea-only’ in his stance.
Mike Maignan (AC Milan, 29):
A £15 million bid fell short of Milan’s £25 million valuation. Talks are ongoing, with Maignan reportedly interested and personal terms already agreed. Chelsea may revisit in January or submit improved offers.
Nick Woltemade (Stuttgart, 23):
The 6′6″ German striker has attracted interest following a 17-goal season and strong performances at the U21 Euros. Chelsea have opened contact as they look to reinforce their attack after signing Liam Delap.
Other Moves:
- Liam Delap from Ipswich Town arrived for around £30 million and is set to compete for the striker role.
- With Jadon Sancho’s loan ending, attacking depth remains a priority.
- Defensive signings are also expected, but no confirmed acquisitions yet.
Chelsea are undertaking a near £100 million squad overhaul following Champions League qualification and a Conference League title. Manager Enzo Maresca is reinforcing midfield, wings, attack, and possibly goalkeeper ahead of the Club World Cup and next season.
