Israel Eliminates Iran’s Top Military Commander in Tehran Airstrike
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed the assassination of Major General Ali Shadmani, the newly appointed commander of Iran’s Khatam al‑Anbiya Central Headquarters, in a precision airstrike carried out in Tehran.
Shadmani, who was appointed only four days ago, was reportedly killed along with several aides when an Israeli missile struck a secure command facility in central Tehran. He was considered one of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s most trusted military strategists and oversaw joint wartime operations between the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran’s conventional army.
This marks the third senior Iranian military official eliminated by Israel in less than a week, following the deaths of IRGC Chief Hossein Salami and General Gholam Ali Rashid.
Iranian officials have not issued a formal confirmation but sources close to the Revolutionary Guard acknowledged "significant losses" at a military command site.
The strike comes amid a rising wave of tit-for-tat military actions between the two countries, now in their fifth consecutive day. Israeli strikes have reportedly damaged Iran’s underground nuclear facility in Natanz, while Iran responded with ballistic missile attacks targeting Israeli airbases and key infrastructure.
The Israeli government said the strike on Shadmani was a "necessary action to degrade Iran’s war command structure."
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking after a security cabinet meeting, warned that “further operations will continue until the Iranian threat is neutralized.”
In Washington, former U.S. President Donald Trump called on Tehran to surrender completely, warning of broader consequences.
International reactions have been swift, with countries evacuating diplomatic staff from Tehran and Tel Aviv as tensions continue to escalate in the region.
