Donald Trump has warned Elon Musk he could face “very serious consequences” if he financially supports candidates—Democrat or Republican—challenging the GOP’s tax-and‑spend agenda. Speaking in a recent NBC News interview, Trump said there would be repercussions if Musk backs figures who oppose lawmakers supporting his signature budget legislation.

Trump stated he has “no intention” of reconciling with Musk after the tech billionaire labeled the GOP’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” a “disgusting abomination”. He emphasized he’s “too busy” to engage with Musk and reiterated that the relationship is over

The feud escalated quickly: Musk criticized the bill on X, even floating impeachment and referencing alleged Trump–Epstein ties (though he later deleted the posts). In response, Trump threatened to cut SpaceX and Starlink government contracts and described Musk’s behavior as “disrespectful to the office of the president”.

In the midst of this conflict, Vice President JD Vance cautioned that Musk has “gone so nuclear” that he may never be welcomed back into the MAGA fold. Other Republicans, including Senator Ted Cruz, have also weighed in. Cruz described the fallout as an emotionally charged rupture that erupted when Musk hit back at Trump’s policies.
