Iran Suspends Cooperation with UN Nuclear Watchdog After Airstrikes
President Masoud Pezeshkian has officially enacted a new law, passed by parliament, officially suspending Iran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Under the new legislation, any inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities must now receive prior approval from the Supreme National Security Council. Tehran’s move comes in direct response to recent U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on critical nuclear sites—including Fordow—which Iran says caused "serious and heavy damage". Iranian officials have accused the IAEA of exhibiting bias toward Western nations and effectively enabling the Israeli strikes. According to state media, the law remains in effect until the safety of nuclear facilities and personnel is guaranteed.
